Latin music spiced up this week’s Hot Tickets, starting with Calibash at Staples Center in Los Angeles on Jan. 24. Almost 17,000 people attended the AEG Live and SBS Entertainment annual production, which featured 10 Latin artists, including Pitbull, Don Omar, Carlos Vives and J. Alvarez and earned $1,354,443 with ticket prices ranging from $21 to $175. Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas hosted Enrique Iglesias and Pitbull on Feb. 7, with 13,767 people coming out for the AEG Live and in-house promoted show that brought in $992,011. Tickets started as low as $29.50 and reached $129.50. The tour next heads to Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield, Calif. on Feb. 12.
The acrobatic wonderment of Cirque du Soleil continued to draw the crowds with different shows. Cirque du Soleil Amaluna set up camp at Big Top Tent at Miami Gardens, Dec. 11, 2014-Jan. 25 for 59 shows. The extended stay grossed $10,819,312 and was attended by a total of 130,983 people, with tickets at $30 to $160. Cirque du Soleil Quidam earned $1,096,629 with a 6-show run at Romexpo in Bucharest, Romania, Jan. 29-Feb.1. The run attracted 18,240 people with tickets ranging from $3,491 to $116.79. Cirque do Soleil Varekai enjoyed a 7-show run at BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla., Jan. 21-25, performing to 12,360 people and earning $773,126 before heading to Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City for seven more shows, Jan. 28-Feb. 1. With tickets ranging from $35 to $95 at both venues, the second run brought in $927,155 and 15,097 people. Cirque du Soleil Varekai will next head to Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, N.M., on Feb. 11. Cirque du Soleil Amaluna can be seen next at Sam Houston Race Park in Houston, Feb. 12. And Cirque du Soleil Quidam is performing at Papp Laszlo Sport Arena in Budapest, Hungary on Feb. 13.
