The International Ticketing Association’s 36th Annual Conference & Exhibition, Go the Extra Mile was held in Denver this past January. There were over 900 conference participants from around the world with the exhibition featuring the latest in products and services specifically for the ticketing industry.
Led by Conference Committee Chair, Kimberly Pabst, regional manager-Midwest and Mountain States at TicketsWest, this three-day event featured 27 educational sessions, two keynotes and eight breakout sessions by type of organization. Key learning tracks included management, technology, marketing, revenue and personal growth.
The conference opened with Human Performance Engineer Sunjay Nath creating awareness around “The Number One Thing That Holds Us Back” by teaching us that shifting our perception can make what was once impossible, possible. Shelly Alcorn, principal at Alcorn Associates Management Consulting, led us into the future with closing keynote “Playstation Strategies in a Work-A-Day World.” While the last 10 years may have been the decade of social media, the next 10 will be about gaming and using gaming mechanics to develop customer experiences.
The pinnacle of the conference week is the presentation of the INTIX Awards, created to honor those members who have demonstrated exceptional professionalism and achievement through innovative, informative and creative management. The five distinguished 2015 recipients are profiled on page 44 and as you can tell from their accomplishments, each has played a valuable role strengthening both our association and the ticketing industry.
The 2015 Board of Directors was installed during the annual business meeting. The gavel was passed from Jennifer Aprea of Jacobson Consulting Applications to Gary Lustig of Ticket Philadelphia who is now serving as Board Chair. Jennifer continues as Past Chair and Maureen Andersen of AudienceView is Chair-Elect. Serving a first term on the Board is Alison Barry of SUNY Fredonia, Kay Burnham of Segerstrom Center for the Arts, Costa Mesa, Calif., and Tammy Enright. Returning for a second term is Debbie Ballentine of the Grand Ole Opry Group, Nashville.
Plans are already underway for the 37th Annual Conference & Exhibition at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, Calif., Jan. 20-22, 2016.
