NAB Show has partnered with Kaleidoscope to host the inaugural Kaleidoscope VR Showcase.
NAB Show will be taking over Las Vegas once more on April 16-21. From advertising and 4K to drones, the new multicultural track and virtual and augmented reality, the show will discuss all the latest industry trends. With more than 1,700 exhibiting companies, NAB Show serves as a launch pad for many exciting new products as a marketplace for digital media and entertainment.
“This year we’ve launched the ‘NAB Show Immersive Experience’ focused on how virtual and augmented reality is impacting all aspects of storytelling and creating new immersive experiences for consumers,” said Ann Marie Cumming, senior vice president of Communications, NAB Show. “NAB Show provides an opportunity to explore the technology and innovation fueling this revolutionary new way to consume content.”
By partnering with Kaleidoscope, the largest community for virtual reality creators, NAB Show will be hosting the inaugural Kaleidoscope VR Showcase.
“The partnership with Kaleidoscope is one of the elements of the Immersive Experience, and it has been really exciting to put together,” said Cumming. “It’s something that our attendees have never seen before at our show. Badge holders will have access to groundbreaking virtual reality films and immersive experiences from North America, Europe, South America and beyond.”
Founded in 2015 by René Pinnell and former Industrial Light & Magic technical director Michael Breymann, Kaleidoscope empowers independent VR artists and works to promote the visibility of VR as the new frontier of film and entertainment. Previous to its involvement with NAB Show, the inaugural Kaleidoscope VR Film Festival toured across the North American continent, visiting 10 cities that included Austin, Los Angeles, New York, Vancouver and more in 2015.
As the world's largest electronic media show covering the creation, management and delivery of content across all platforms, NAB Show brings over100,000 attendees from 166 countries. From creation to consumption, across multiple platforms and countless nationalities, NAB Show explores solutions that transcend traditional broadcasting and embrace content delivery to new screens in new ways, which is why VR is being highlighted during this year’s show.
“With the rapid evolution of media and entertainment, it’s clear that virtual reality will play a prominent role in the future of film and broadcasting,” said Cumming. “Kaleidoscope has the largest community of VR content creators so it only made sense to partner with them and give NAB Show attendees the opportunity to travel to virtual worlds and experience innovative narrative, environmental and interactive content.”
