Rich Claffey has been named senior vice president and general manager at Madison Square Garden Company today, August 17, 2016. After starting a working relationship with the Madison Square Garden Company in 1983 as a member of their stage crew, Claffey moved up through the ranks before working with other venues like Radio City Music Hall, The Beacon Theatre and The Chicago Theatre.
His new positions will aim at providing the best attendee experience possible by way of directing and overseeing operations in buildings and events, construction and ticketing, food and merchandise, as well as event production.
With a diverse resume that includes head carpenter at Radio City Music Hall and general manager of Rockettes Operations, Claffey most recently worked as general manager of Radio City Music Hall until November 2015. He has since worked as a venue consultant in the industry before returning to where he started at MSG.
