Wentzell and Baugus Go Home Again

John Wentzell has been named president of Spectra by Comcast Spectacor’s venue management and food services & hospitality division. Wentzell is a former Comcast Spectacor executive and returns to Comcast Spectacor after nearly 20 years with Delaware North Companies, where he most recently served as president, Delaware North Sportservice and Delaware North, U.K.

During his time with Delaware North, Wentzell spent six years as president, Delaware North, Boston. At Comcast Spectacor, Wentzell was chief operating officer of the Philadelphia Phantoms, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers from 1996-2009. Wentzell received his bachelor of arts, physical education/sports management from Otterbein University and a Master of Science, sports management, from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

R.V. Baugus is rejoining International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM) as senior editor. Baugus last worked at the association from 2000-2013 as editor of Facility Manager magazine. Baugus is a communications veteran with almost 20 years’ experience covering the public assembly venue industry.

Since 2013, he has been a staff correspondent for Venues Today and served as a contributing editor to Dave Campbell’s Texas Basketball magazine.

During his previous service at IAVM, Baugus was the recipient of 10 Quill Awards in various writing categories given by the Dallas chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators. Facility Manager also received two magazine redesign awards and enjoyed its highest ad sales revenue during his tenure.

Prior to joining IAVM in 2000, Baugus was a communications associate at Young Presidents’ Organization and served as news editor of Promotional Products Business magazine with Promotional Products Association International, where he earned his other Quill Award. Baugus has also been responsible for publications with the Association of Tennis Professionals and World Championship Tennis.

Baugus received his bachelor of arts in communication from University of Texas, Arlington.
