Country dominated this week's chart, with the genre's artists accounting for half of the spots on Hot Tickets. Carrie Underwood secured four mentions, with her highest gross of $563,349 at Spokane (Wash.) Arena. The AEG Live-promoted tour also included a Feb. 19 stop at Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark in Billings, Mont. After a March 8 show at Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, N.M., Underwood heads to Ireland for a March 14 concert at Olympia Theatre in Dublin and a performance the next day at Belfast Waterfront Hall. She ends the European leg of the tour with a March 17 stop at the O2 Arena in London.
George Strait continues his very successful Cowboy Rides Away farewell tour, reaching consistent grosses of more than $1 million. After a stop at Reliant Stadium for Rodeo Houston, March 17, Strait will head to Bi-Lo Center in Greenville, S.C., March 22, and perform at Greensboro (N.C.) Coliseum Complex the next night.
In the only sports event to make this week's Hot Tickets, USA Rugby Sevens grossed more than $2 million with its Feb. 8-10 event at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas. The tournament marked the only stop in North America for the Sevens World Series. More than 42,000 people attended the stadium over three days. The next large USA Sevens rugby event is the Collegiate Rugby Championship at PPL Park in Philadelphia, June 1-2.
Meanwhile, in performing arts, two Broadway series events battled for the top spot on the chart. Wicked grossed more than $4 million during its 24-show run in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., at Broward Center for the Performing Arts. At Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis, The Book of Mormon grossed nearly $3.9 million during a 16-show run.
