Cirque du Soleil took over the Hot Tickets chart this week, filling seven spots with a mixture of arena and big top tent shows. The highest-grossing run at nearly $4.5 million wa s Cirque du Soleil Varekai at Gran Carpa Soleil Guadalajara, Mexico. The 27-date run had the highest top ticket price of all the Cirque du Soleil shows that charted this week, at $225. The troupe's only performance in the United States to make the chart this week was a production of Cirque du Soleil Totem, at a Big Top Tent at Ohio Expo Center Grounds in Columbus. Next, Totem heads to the Port of Los Angeles, San Pedro, Oct. 11, for another tented performance, then takes the big top to Irvine, Calif., at Orange County Great Park, Nov. 21.
Country music had a strong showing this week, with Taylor Swift's The Messina Group-promoted tour stopping at Moda Center in Portland, Ore., Aug. 30. More than 13,000 fans came to see the singer, leading to a gross of more than $1 million. Swift is wrapping up her 58-show RED tour with three dates Sept. 19-21 at Bridgestone Arena in her hometown of Nashville, Tenn. Luke Bryan brought more than 11,000 fans to Intrust Bank Arena in Wichita, Kan., Sept. 12. His Dirt Road Diaries Tour next heads to USANA Amphitheatre in Salt Lake City, Sept. 20, then Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre in Denver the next day, followed by a make-up date at Isleta Amphitheatre in Albuquerque, N.M., Sept. 22.
