Since the news went worldwide that he would be accompanying Taylor Swift on her highly-anticipated RED Tour, Ed Sheeran has been exciting audiences worldwide. He holds the top spot in our 10,001-15,000-seat category on this week's Hot Tickets chart for a March 9 performance at Vector Arena in Auckland, New Zealand. Tickets were a flat price of $76.35, which led to a gross of more than $600,000. Next, Sheeran appears with Taylor Swift at Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, N.C., March 22, and again the next night at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, S.C.
There are a couple of big sporting events on this week's Hot Tickets chart. UFC 158: St. Pierre vs. Diaz knocked out a huge gross at Bell Centre in Montreal, March 16. Tickets ranged from $83.18-$587.17, and with an attendance of 16,523, the event saw a more than $3.5-million gross. Also, the West Coast Conference Basketball Championship had 10 shows at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, March 6-10. The event brought nearly 60,000 people, with the lowest ticket priced at $135.
