The largest capacity category on this week's Hot Tickets has gone international this week, with venues from four countries represented. The O2 Arena in London led the category, with three shows by Drake grossing a combined $4.3 million, March 24-26. Next, Drake will play at the Roskilde (Denmark) Festival, which takes place June 29-July 7. The facility also hosted the Country 2 Country Festival featuring Brad Paisley and Zac Brown Band, with a gross of more than $2.5 million over two days. Paisley heads to Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, N.J., May 16, and Zac Brown Band will play at the Southern Cafe & Music Hall in Charlottesville, Va., April 10.
Amway Center in Orlando, Fla., hosted three days of the 2014 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament for a gross of more than $4 million; and Bruno Mars' two shows at Allphones Arena in Sydney, March 10-11, brought in close to $4 million, as well. Next, Mars takes his Moonshine Jungle tour to Neal S Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu, April 18-21. Another sporting event, preseason baseball, proved a win for Olympic Stadium in Montreal. The Blue Jays vs. Mets games, March 28-29, brought nearly 90,000 people to the stadium.
Cirque du Soleil's various shows dominated the two midrange capacity cateogries of 10,001-15,000 and 5,001-10,000, with eight of the 10 events. Runs at Zenith Omega in Toulon, France; Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning, Denmark; Park&Suites Arena in Montpellier, France; and Minsk (Belarus) Arena; as well as several U.S. dates at Sun National Bank Center in Trenton, N.J.; Baltimore Arena; Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh; and Patriot Center in Fairfax, Va., grossed a wide range from about $600,000 to $2.1 million.
