After 14 years with Comcast-Spectacor in Philadelphia, Mich Sauers has again launched his own firm – Global Facility Solutions Associates, based in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Global Facility Solutions Associates will consult on projects in the venues industry, calling on a pool of industry veterans, the names of whom will be announced in the next month, Sauers said. He envisions six to seven experts on various aspects of the industry from operations to booking to ticketing to advertising. “We will help find a solution,” he said.
Having last worked on business development internationally for Comcast-Spectacor, Sauers said he continues to have a keen interest in venues worldwide.
Sauers was formerly president of Global Spectrum, a post he assumed in 2000 when he sold his own Global Facility Services, which he founded in 1994, to Comcast-Spectacor. For the past eight years, he was responsible for initiating new business opportunities for Comcast-Spectacor entities in countries throughout the world as SVP of business development. He resigned that post at the end of June.
“It’s time to do something different,” Sauers said. “First I was going to retire, but I like to be involved in projects.” His team will work collectively with the new firm or individually as consultants and each has the same caliber of experience Sauers has. The one thing they will not consider is private management, he added. “That’s a long-term commitment. I’m interested in short-term projects – four to six years.
The new website is GFAssociates, and Sauers can be reached at mich@gfsassociates.com or at his existing phone numbers. He will be at the International Association of Venue Managers' VenueConnect meeting in Portland, Ore., July 26-29. He is the Past Chair of the IAVM Foundation and served as Vice Chair for the International Steering Committee and currently serves as Chairman of the Advisory Council for the IAVMF Foundation.
Sauers, who entered the private facility management industry at its infancy, was one of the original corporate employees of Spectacor Management, Inc. (now known as SMG) in 1984. He spearheaded SMG’s early international ventures in Europe.
