Peter Luukko has invested in and become chairman of the board of Philly Sports Holdings, which does business under the name Sports Vault and Strategic Sports Marketing. The company handles professional player events and signings with stores in Philadelphia and the Northeast and memorabilia over the Internet.
"My day to day is still Pointstreak," said Luukko, who earlier invested in and serves as executive chairman of Pointstreak Sports Technologies. Following his departure from Comcast-Spectacor, having resigned as president and COO of that firm last December, Luukko has been fielding a lot of interest in his services and has settled on companies where he sees growth and a chance to help, he said.
He is also looking at properties that have synergy. Pointstreak is larger than Philly Sports Holdings and global versus regional, but the two, as they grow, have synergies, Luukko said.
He also recently joined the board of Danny Wimmer Presents, a Southern California festival promoter with projects such as Rock on the Range in Columbus, Ohio.
How many boards can one sit on? "That's a good question," Luukko said, adding that it would be limited to those where he could make a meaningful contribution. He has no investment in DWP.
