2015 NAB Show will be in Las Vegas, April 11-16.

In a current Turnkey Venues Poll, 39 percent of the 127 participants so far said their organizations plan on spending the most resources on technology in 2015. Old and new venues alike are trying to stay up to date with Wi-Fi, video systems, fan engagement areas and gamification programs in their facilities. 2015 NAB Show April 11-16 in Las Vegas will offer hands-on experience with access to and education on the latest technologies and innovations for advertising, digital media, sports, entertainment and more in a networking environment. And with the theme “Crave More,” 2015 NAB Show doesn’t want you to leave empty handed.

Sam Rosen, practice director at ABI Research, said research shows that live events are continuing to attract larger audiences with in-person crowds and through television broadcasts like at sports events. February’s NFL Super Bowl is expected to have reached an average of 114.4-million U.S. viewers, making it the most viewed Super Bowl game to date.

“As history demonstrates, it is likely that the audiences for live events will continue to grow,” said Rosen. “Global events now are able to draw increasingly large live crowds, but for those who are unable to make the travel to foreign countries to participate in these events as they happen, the increasing availability of live content means that consumers are far less likely to miss out.”

With that increase in attendance comes an increase in fan expectation for the event venue itself and the channels through which they are able to interact with the event even if they’re not there in person. Beyond innovations to broadcast media and film, 2015 NAB Show will introduce attendees to the future of venue technology as well, with over 1,700 exhibitors and 500 skill-building sessions in all.

As drones continue to grow in popularity, the rules involving them continue to advance and change as well. The new Aerial Robotics and Drone Pavilion, staged by Drone Media Group, will provide 2015 NAB Show attendees with an up-close look at the technology in action. The Pavilion will also feature daily presentations on topics like laws and regulations surrounding drones and capturing aerial video.

“Unmanned aerial systems are increasingly being used to cover live events and breaking news, and in industries such as real estate, law enforcement, search and rescue, and more,” said Mannie Frances, Drone Media Group. “Drones were one of the hottest technologies at the 2014 NAB Show. We are excited to unveil the Aerial Robotics and Drone Pavilion in 2015.”

Another interesting aspect will be a multiscreen viewing experience that will explore the technologies that enable brands and organizations to interact with their audiences through mobile, social and the cloud. Through exhibits and a full seminar program, connected media IP will offer the tools and knowledge necessary to deliver a multiscreen audience experience.

Technology plays a big role in marketing as well, and for TV advertising, programmatic buying is an emerging trend. Programmatic buying uses data technology to allow brands to target audiences based on not only age and gender, but also on income, ethnicity, education and even pet ownership. In December, a company called TubeMogul introduced a software product that enables automated, data-driven buying of TV ads where the software aggregates TV ad inventories from cable TV providers, satellite TV providers, national TV networks and local TV stations. Through the data provided by that software, companies can tweak ad spending on the fly.

“TV is the next frontier for data-driven marketing,” said Joshua Koran, senior vice president of product management at Turn, whose software allows programmatic buying of TV ads.

These are just some of the hundreds of topics that will be discussed during 2015 NAB Show, many of which could prove valuable to a venue seeking to stay on the cutting-edge of technology or even just up-to-date with advancements in these and other fields.
