Tim Hassett is pleased with his new gig as VP of stadium operations at Arrowhead Stadium for the Kansas City (Mo.) Chiefs, a move which keeps him in the heartland and in sports.

Hassett joined the Chiefs on July 20 after bidding adieu to AEG Facilities and his role as regional VP and manager of the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh a mere three days earlier, July 17.

In his new role, he will answer to Chiefs' President Mark Donovan.

Prior to his tenure at the Consol Energy Center, Hassett served as the Vice President, Operations, at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City for nearly two years. Before then, he spent seven years (2004-11) as executive VP, Facilities, for The Madison Square Garden Company.

While at MSG, he helped plan the renovations, including the bridge seating that spans the arena. It is similar to a press bridge at Air Canada Center in Toronto, he noted, except the Canadian version is closed in the back while New Yorks is open on both sides.

He was happy to get back into the sports side of the business when he left Lincoln Center for Consol Energy Center, he noted. That is where his heart is.

He has also served as senior VP and general manager of Giants Stadium and Continental Airlines Arena, among other assignments over a seven-year period (1996-2003) at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, N.J.

Hassett began his career in sports and entertainment with the Southwest Athletic Conference in Dallas, Texas, in 1987. He joined the New York Yankees in 1988 as the assistant director of Stadium Operations and served as the director of Stadium Operations at Yankee Stadium from 1990 to 1994.
