Cirque du Soleil Totem, a big top tent show, struck the tent at Orange County Great Park in Irvine, Calif., after earning more than $7 million in 46 shows. The big top tents have a capacity of 2,600-2,800. Nearly 73,000 people came out to Totem in Irvine, with ticket prices ranging $45-$150. Cirque du Soleil Totem opens in Santa Monica, Calif., Jan. 17 before taking the tent to the Portland (Ore.) Expo Center, March 27. Cirque du Soleil Corteo is drawing strong numbers in Brazil. Another big top tent show, Corteo's run at Expotrade Convention and Exhibition Center in Curitiba grossed more than $4 million. Corteo is now playing in the Big Top Tent at Marina da Gloria in Rio de Janeiro, and takes the tent to Bourbon Shopping Wallig in Porto Alegre, Brazil on March 6 before heading to Argentina in May.
Prince played three high-priced shows at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., Dec. 27-29. More than 21,000 fans paid $125-$545 to see the show. The artist currently has no dates scheduled for 2014.
Bon Jovi wrapped his Because We Can tour in December, which included 102 shows in 91 cities and 25 countries. His Dec. 14 show at ANZ Stadium in Sydney grossed more than $8 million and was attended by more than 60,000 fans. His Suncorp Stadium show in Milton, Australia, Dec. 17 grossed nearly $5.9 million, and the Dec. 11 show at AAMI Stadium in West Lakes, Australia, had an attendance of nearly 40,000. All three shows were promoted by Dainty Group, with tickets ranging around $66-$442.
