Joeseph Floreano, longtime general manager of Riverside Convention Center in Rochester, N.Y., passed away Sept. 23 after a long battle with cancer. His wife, Carol, was by his side. He was 67. Floreano oversaw construction and operation of the venue since January 1983, when the facility was being built. It opened in 1985. In his honor, the venue has been renamed Joseph A. Floreano Convention Center. He was honored with IAVM’s Legacy Award in June and named honorary chairman of the IAVM Foundation board. He is a past president of IAVM. Jim Brown is serving as interim executive director of the convention center. Floreano is survived by his wife, Carol, sons Anthony and Jason and their families.
